Treatments Offered by Cardiologists for Heart Conditions

Cardiologists offer several different treatments to patients who suffer from heart conditions. These treatments may include Coronary bypass surgery and Antiplatelet drugs. Cardiac catheterization is another option. Diuretics are also a common treatment. They are both very effective and offer different types of benefits. However, the right treatment is important to prevent further heart attack complications. Cardiology clinics in Dubai are also familiar with all of the risks associated with each.

Cardiac catheterization:

The procedure can be performed as an outpatient or as part of a hospital stay. Its timing will depend on the condition of the patient and the doctor’s practice. Before the procedure, patients should remove all jewelry and other items from their bodies, such as hearing aids and dentures. Once this has been completed, patients should change into a hospital gown. They will be asked to fasten their pants and sleeves.

Antiplatelet drugs:

Patients who have had a heart attack or have been diagnosed with peripheral vascular disease may be given one of several antiplatelet drugs. These drugs effectively prevent and delay major vascular events and may be prescribed by cardiologists in patients at high risk for future heart attacks. One common antiplatelet drug is aspirin, but other antiplatelet drugs are available, including clopidogrel, prasugrel, ticagrelor, and paclitaxel.

Coronary bypass surgery:

A heart attack can be devastating, but many cardiologists offer bypass surgery to patients who cannot undergo traditional heart surgery. In this procedure, a blood vessel from another part of the body is attached to the coronary artery, rerouting the blood flow. Depending on the blockage, the procedure can involve several bypass surgeries. The recovery period is shorter than that of other types of heart surgery, but the risk of recurrence is higher. Moreover, if the blockage is in more than one artery, the procedure may require more than one. This procedure is also known as keyhole surgery.

Diuretics:

A common treatment for high blood pressure is diuretics, also known as water pills. They work by stimulating the kidneys to excrete more water. The process of excretion also helps the body eliminate excess salt, which reduces the heart’s workload. This may reduce the risk of recurrence of a heart attack. Although diuretics do have some side effects, they are often valuable for treating heart failure and high blood pressure.
